The Directors

The founding directors, Liam Ó Cuinneagáin and Professor Seosamh Watson, are both internationally known for their innovative approaches to language learning.

Liam Ó CuinneagáinLiam spent over twenty years as a primary teacher and school principal in Dublin and has taught the language at every level. He is a well-known language activist and completed two terms, totalling ten years, as Cathaoirleach (Chairman) of Údarás na Gaeltachta, the agency responsible for the cultural and economic wellbeing of the Gaeltacht regions nationally.

Professor Seosamh WatsonSeosamh is a leading Irish language academic, originally from Belfast, and is Professor Emeritus of Modern Irish at University College, Dublin. He is also a fluent Scots Gaelic speaker and is intimately familiar with Scotland and Nova Scotia. He is visiting professor at numerous universities internationally.

Course Manager

Rónán Ó DochartaighAs a software developer, Rónán helped build some of the largest digital humanities projects in the world, including Dúchas - a project to digitise the National Folklore Collection of Ireland (www.duchas.ie). Alongside this work, he designed and taught innovative Irish language courses in various universities and adult education institutions for more than 15 years. He was a Fulbright Foreign Language Teacher at the University of Notre Dame 2011-2012. He is Course Manager at Oideas Gael since 2019.

Office Manager

Siobhán Ní ChurraighínFrom the Gaeltacht area of Teileann, Co. Donegal, Siobhán has more than 30 years' experience administering adult education courses. She has been involved in many community development initiatives during this time and was formerly Rúnaí (Secretary) on the board of Cairdeas na bhFidléirí, an organisation dedicated to strengthening Donegal fiddle playing at its roots.
